Dr Leanne Cheung

Specialist Ophthalmic Surgeon

MBBS (Hons 1) MPH FRANZCO

Dr Leanne Cheung is an experienced eye surgeon who treats cataracts, all general eye conditions and has a sub-speciality interest in Oculoplastics. She prides herself on clear and comprehensive communication with patients to help them understand their diagnosis and create individual treatment plans to care for their eyes’ health.

Dr Cheung’s career as an Ophthalmologist commenced when she volunteered at a Fred Hollows initiative in 1996 at the Tilganga Eye Hospital in Kathmandu, Nepal. There she saw the impact that caring for people’s sight could have on their lives. She continued this proud tradition, by delivering eye care to remote communities and developing countries as part of the Outback Eye Service, and as a volunteer surgeon with the Myanmar (Burma) Eye Care Program.

She is dedicated to teaching the next generation of ophthalmologists, having been the Director of Training for the Prince of Wales Hospital Ophthalmology Program 2014-2020. Currently, she is focused on the surgical aspects of training, directing Surgical Simulation Training.

Dr Cheung consults at Hurstville and Miranda and operates at Kogarah Private Hospital and Ramsay Surgical Centre Miranda.
