MBBS (HONS), MPH, FRANZCO

Dr Matthew Spargo is in demand for patients requiring high-level, sophisticated strabismus care. His paediatric and adult patients come from all areas of New South Wales for his expertise in eye muscle surgery. He also provides services in complex cataract surgery, ranging from babies to older adults.

Currently he is the Director of Training at the Prince of Wales Hospital Network, being one of two bodies in New South Wales that train the next generation of eye surgeons.

Dr  Spargo’s consultancy practice principally provides sub-specialty expertise in paediatric eye care and strabismus (eye muscle imbalance). He is an expert in disorders of double vision, providing surgical solutions to this intolerable problem. For his adult patients, he also offers expertise in the care of cataract, glaucoma, retinal disease, pterygium and general emergencies.

In addition to being the Director of Training at Prince of Wales, he is also a Consultant Paediatric Ophthalmologist at Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick, providing sight saving interventions to some of the most vulnerable children in our community.

Dr Spargo is a member of numerous professional organisations. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists and a member of the International Strabismological Association.
